Book club; "the troops"; name!

Alright, guys, this is getting slow. Blogs are passe, yes, but the purpose of this one wasn't to keep the losers in the rest of the world appraised on how WE are doing; it was to keep in touch with each other. So please, Ed, Stein, Nick, Bill, make some new posts, or respond to some previous ones.

Anyway, how about we talk about books? I have just started reading Glamorama, and it reminds me how much I love Easton. Have any of you (I know you have, Nick) read American Psycho? I love that book. Serial killers fascinate me anyway; but that book also has a very important and relevant message about 80s American society. And if you realize what that message is, you have to ask yourself: have we changed, that much, since then? Are we still the type of society that would let something like that happen? My guess is yes. But get a copy of American Psycho and read it, and let me know what you think.

Secondly, I am getting tired of hearing people reassure me that they "support the troops" before calling me a murderer, a torturer, a rapist and a pawn in some evil tyrant's game. Telling me that you "support" me doesn't excuse you from impugning my virtue, my integrity or my intelligence. As I read somewhere recently, the left love to say that they "support" the troops, but look at it this way: if you say you support the Spurs, that means you want them to win the NBA champs, right? You wouldn't hear somebody say "I support the Spurs; HOWEVER, I think basketball is wrong and undignified, and I think the Spurs are idiots who've let themselves be misled by their coach into playing an immoral game, and when the Spurs practice 'picking' they are using an immoral tactic." No, you wouldn't ever hear that. To say that you support the troops, but oppose everything they stand for...well, you're contradicting yourself. To be frank, I'd respect leftists more if they just came out and said it: "We hate the troops. We hate the military. All soldiers are murdering, raping, baby-killing, mindless robots under the control of evil, Bible-beating, bloodlusty coporate whores. To sum up, soldiers suck."

Lastly, the new name. Whatever the fuck etc. has to go, or we have to move this shit. Here are my suggestions. Comment copiously.
